ACP is committed to making its customers successful...
PUBLIC RETAIL SALES
New Zealand's biosecurity legislation and new pest management stragegies place increasing emphasis on the users-pays principle, putting responsibility for pest control expenditure more directly upon those who benefit from it. As a consequence many householders, land owners, community groups and NGOs now operate their own pest control programs. A large number of farm supplies stores throughout New Zealand are supplied with Pestoff products through ACP's contract distributor Bell-Booth Limited of Palmerston North (Ph 0800 80 90 91).

DIRECT SALES TO COMMERCIAL OPERATORS
Pest control professionals have access to a much wider range of products, including controlled substances which are not available in retail stores and which require a controlled substances license. This includes products with DRC1339, cyanide, 1080 and phosphorus products in various forms. Private pest control operators are the fastest growing sector within the industry. An increasing amount of pest control delivery work is being awarded to commercial contractors by organisations which previously carried out much of the work themselves. The number of PCO's working in urban, rural and remote areas has grown significantly. ACP has cultivated a special relationship with these PCO's and is receiving excellent support through product sales and feed-back. The Animal Health Board is the largest single agency funding the activity of private pest control operators working under the National Pest Management Strategy.
LOCAL GOVERNMENT ORGANISATIONS
A number of district councils and regional councils continue to undertake their own operations or employ contractors in order to manage the environmental, economic, public health and animal health impacts of vertebrate pest animals. Their pest management operations, guided by regional pest management strategies, cover the protection of locally important natural ecosystems, pastoral, agricultural and horticultural crop protection, and the protection of soil and water values where these values are at risk from pest animals. Some also combine their financial resources with those of farmers, the Animal Health Board and the Department of Conservation to control possums and other vectors of bovine tuberculosis, or to manage the impacts of vertebrate pests on forests and wildlife. ACP remains the principle supplier of pesticide products for these operations.
NEW ZEALAND DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION
The Department of Conservation (DOC) has estate management responsibilities covering approximately one third of New Zealand's land area. The majority of this area comprises ecologically important areas and introduced mammalian pests occur in most of these. The control of introduced possums, goats, deer, rodents and mustelids occupies a large part of DOC's annual work program; with the aerial sowing of 1080 possum baits manufactured by ACP being a major part of the pest program. Using ACP's pellet bait products as its principle tool, DOC has successfully eradicated introduced pests from many offshore islands where recovery programs for native species are now well underway.
THE NEW ZEALAND FOREST INDUSTRY
The production of high quality sawlogs for export and domestic markets is the primary goal of the forest industry in New Zealand. Protection of plantations from browse damage caused by possums, deer, goats, rabbits and hares is essential; particularly in the formative years of tree growth. ACP staff have backgrounds in production and environmental forestry and enjoy a close relationship with the forest industry providing products, training and advice.
DIRECT EXPORT SALES
ACP has extensive experience in manufacturing and exporting large volumes of baits for overseas programmes designed to restore native flora and fauna or enhance natural bio-diversity; particularly in island ecosystems. These programmes are usually attached to government or conservation agencies funded by high-profile international sponsors. ACP is proud to support these agencies by supplying high quality products, technical assistance, planning and operational input. ACP also manufacturers purpose-built export products destined for retail sale in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Australia and the Pacific. Bell-Booth Ltd manages the distibution of ACP's rodenticides to the commercial and retail sectors in Australia which are sold under the X-Verminator trade name. The value of ACP's products for agricultural protection work outside New Zealand has been proven in a number of different locations where bait products have had to be sufficiently palatable to compete with alternative rodent food sources. The cost effectiveness of ACP's bulk product has been internationally demonstrated and there is continuing growth in the supply of overseas markets with product for crop protection and public health.
